Tire Disposal and Environmental Fees
Fleet360 does not have a dedicated tire disposal or environmental fee setting, and a fee cannot be set up by tire size. The Tire Size record holds only the size name, number, description and casing value. A disposal or environmental fee is charged on the work order in one of two ways, depending on whether you want a fixed amount per tire or a percentage of the tire cost.
Option 1: Post a flat fee as a miscellaneous charge
Use this when the fee is a fixed dollar amount, for example a set disposal fee for each tire removed. On the work order job, add a Miscellaneous posting and enter the fee as the Item (for example, Tire Disposal Fee), the fee amount as the Price, and the number of tires as the Quantity. The charge is added to the job and work order totals and prints on the invoice like any other miscellaneous charge. Because the Item is free text, you can name the fee to match the tire size if you need it to appear that way on the invoice, but the amount is entered by the user each time; it is not looked up from the tire size.
Refer to Post miscellaneous charges to a job.
Refer to Posting Miscellaneous Charges.
Option 2: Apply a percentage through Overhead/Shop Supplies
Use this when the fee should be a percentage added automatically to every work order, without posting it line by line. The Use Overhead/Shop Supply system switch (Admin, System Switches, Work Orders) chooses where the percentage comes from.
Switch setting | How the charge is calculated |
|---|---|
Facility | The Tire Overhead percentage on the facility file (Settings tab, Overhead panel) is applied to the tire cost posted to the work order. The Part, Labor and Misc Overhead percentages are applied to their own posting types in the same way. |
Customer | The Shop Supply Rate on the customer file (Markups tab) is applied to the inside labor cost posted to the work order. There is no separate tire percentage in this mode. |
The overhead percentage is the same for every tire posted at that facility (or for that customer). It cannot be set to a different rate for different tire sizes. The charge appears on the Shop line of the work order invoice, not as a separate disposal fee line.
Refer to Shop Supplies and Overhead Charges.
Recording what a scrapped tire was worth
The Costs tab on the Tire File records the purchase cost, cap costs and the final scrap or disposal value of each tire for lifecycle cost tracking. This is a record of the tire's cost history only; it does not create a charge on a work order or invoice. To bill a customer for disposal, use one of the two options above.
Refer to Tire File Costs Tab.
