Renumber a tire
Renumbering changes a tire's number while keeping everything attached to it — its history, costs, and associations all follow the new number. Use it when a tire was numbered incorrectly or your numbering scheme has changed.
Before you begin
Requires the Edit Tire permission, checked against the facility the tire belongs to — not the facility you are currently working in. If you lack it, Renumber is greyed out in the Actions menu with an "Edit Tire permission required" tooltip.
Tire numbers must be unique. Have the new number ready before you start.
Renumber a tire
Open the tire in the Tire File.
Select Actions, then Renumber.
The dialog shows the tire's current number for reference. Enter the new number in Renumber to.
To apply the same change to the tire's vendor part number, select Renumber Vendor Part Number.
Select Save.
A "Tire renumbered" confirmation appears. The tire keeps its history, costs, and associations under the new number.
Note: Renumbering does not move the tire between facilities. There is no facility selector in this dialog — to move a tire, use Transfer a tire instead.
Fields
Field | Notes |
|---|---|
Tire Number | The tire's current number. Read-only, shown for reference. |
Renumber to | The new number. Required. Checked for uniqueness as you type and again when you save. |
Renumber Vendor Part Number | Optional. Applies the renumber to the tire's vendor part number as well. |
If it doesn't work
Renumber is greyed out. You are missing the Edit Tire permission for the tire's facility — hover the lock icon to confirm. Note this is checked against the tire's own facility, so having the permission at your current working facility is not enough.
"Tire number already exists." Another tire already uses that number. Enter a different one. Fleet360 checks as you type, so you usually see this before you try to save.
Save stays greyed out. Either the Renumber to field is empty, the number you entered is a known duplicate, or the uniqueness check is still running — wait a moment and it will enable.
