Job view modes
The Jobs tab offers three view modes that control how much information is visible for each job. This reference describes what each mode shows. For guidance on when to use each mode, see Choosing the right job view.
Switching view modes
The view mode control is labeled View mode and offers Read, Scan, and Glance. It sits in the header area alongside the Jobs / Work Order Info / Attachments / History tab strip — it is visible regardless of which tab is active, but it only changes what renders in the Jobs tab.
Your selection is saved to your user profile. It persists across sessions and applies to every Work Order you open — it is a personal preference, not a per-Work-Order or per-session setting. It does not affect what other users see.
While Bulk mode is active, the Jobs tab is temporarily switched to Scan (if it wasn't already), regardless of your saved preference. This is a display-only override: it is not saved, and your normal view mode is restored automatically when you exit Bulk mode.
Read mode
Read mode shows the full job card. All job fields and actions are visible without opening a separate drawer, and the posted-transactions table is expanded by default.
Visible in Read mode:
Section | Content |
|---|---|
Flags | Outside Work chip (if the job is outside work); warranty status chip (if applicable) |
Job identification | Job/line number, job description (title), VMRS code, repair type, cause code, vendor |
Status | Job status chip |
Technician / labor | Assigned technician chip (opens the Edit Job panel); labor estimate (hours) |
Notes | Complaint, cause, correction (3C — shown only if 3C is enabled for the facility/tenant), job notes |
Top actions | Add Posting; Add Inspection (if applicable); Request Parts (not shown on estimate Work Orders); Warranty check (if the facility uses part-warranty-return verification) |
Postings | Posted Transactions table, inline, expanded by default |
Cost breakdown | Tires, Miscellaneous, Parts, Labor, and Subtotal — each shown individually |
Footer actions | Edit Job, Close Job, Reschedule, Reopen Job (only if closed), Delete (only if permitted) |
Read is the highest-information view. It requires the most vertical space per job, especially for jobs with many postings.
Scan mode
Scan mode renders the same job card component as Read mode — not a separate condensed layout. Every field, the notes/3C section, the full cost breakdown, and all footer actions described above for Read mode are identical and equally visible in Scan.
The one difference: the Posted Transactions table defaults to collapsed in Scan (instead of expanded, as in Read), and its toggle reads "See more" / "See less" instead of a plain chevron. It is still inline and can be expanded with one click — nothing requires opening the job drawer.
Practical effect: because postings start collapsed, a Work Order with many jobs that already have several postings each will generally look more compact in Scan than in Read — but only for that reason. Jobs with few or no postings look the same in both modes.
Glance mode
Glance mode shows each job as a single compact row (a different, dedicated component from Read/Scan). It is the most space-efficient mode and is designed for high-job-count Work Orders where cost and assignment overview takes priority over content detail.
Visible in Glance mode (per row):
Column | Content |
|---|---|
# | Job/line number |
Job / VMRS | Job description (title) and VMRS code |
Repair | Repair type |
Transactions | A chip showing the posted-transaction count; expandable inline to a table (type, part/tire/misc item, description, tech, price, qty, warranty flag, posted date, reverse action) |
Status | Status pill |
Assigned tech | Technician chip (opens the Edit Job panel scrolled to Technicians) |
Hours | Labor estimate hours |
Total | Transaction total only — no per-category (labor/parts/tires/misc) breakdown |
Actions | "+" menu (Add Posting, Request Parts, Add Inspection Checklist); quick Edit (pencil); "more" menu (Edit Job, Reschedule, Close Job, Reopen Job if closed, Delete Job if permitted) |
Notes, 3C content, and the individual cost-category breakdown are not shown in Glance mode at any level — opening the job drawer (via Edit Job) is required to see them. There is also no Warranty check action available from the Glance row (it exists only in the Read/Scan top action row).
