Update the Work Order meter
Before you begin
Requires the Edit Work Order Meter permission for the Work Order’s facility, plus Edit Work Orders — see Work Order permissions. The Work Order must be open; Fleet360 doesn’t offer the meter edit control on a closed Work Order. The asset must have a Primary Meter type other than None on its asset file; when the asset has no primary meter, the upgraded Work Order page does not show the WO Meter field at all.
Steps
Open the Work Order and find the WO Meter field in the Work Order summary.
Select the pencil (edit) icon next to the WO Meter value.
The meter update drawer opens, showing the asset's current reading.
Enter the new reading in the meter field, labeled with the asset's meter type (for example, Miles or Hours). If your organization prompts for alternate meters, also enter the new reading in the Alternate Meter field(s) shown.
Select Save.
The drawer closes and the WO Meter value on the Work Order updates to the reading you entered.
If this step fails
If the reading you enter is higher than the maximum allowed jump for this meter, Fleet360 blocks the save with an error. A user with meter-override authorization can approve the change from an on-screen authorization prompt; otherwise, enter a reading within the allowed range and select Save again.
The WO Meter field or pencil icon is missing
Check these in order. The first three are settings you can change yourself.
What you see | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
No WO Meter field anywhere on the Work Order page or the Work Order Info tab | The asset’s Primary Meter type is None. An alternate meter (for example Hours) does not count; the WO Meter is the primary meter only. | Open the asset file and set the Primary Meter type (Miles, Kilometers or Hours), then reopen the Work Order. Refer to Asset Management Tab. |
WO Meter value shows, but no pencil icon | The Work Order is closed, or your user group is missing Edit Work Order Meter or Edit Work Orders for this facility. | Reopen the Work Order if you need to correct the meter (requires Reopen Closed Work Orders), and ask an administrator to check your user group under Admin > User Groups. Refer to User Group Maintenance. |
The field is there in the original design but not in the upgraded design | This is expected when the asset has no primary meter: the original design shows WO Meter as 0, the upgraded design hides it. | Set the asset’s Primary Meter type as above. You can also switch back to the original design for your login from the New! Work Order button in the navigation menu; see Work Orders - Start Here. |
Permission and Work Order state are correct, asset has a primary meter, and the pencil is still missing | Not a setup issue. | Contact support@rtafleet.com with the Work Order number and asset number so the screen can be checked. |
The Odometer Prompt system switch controls whether Fleet360 asks for a meter reading when a Work Order is created; it does not hide the WO Meter field on an existing Work Order.
