Update Work Order details
Before you begin
You need the Edit Work Orders permission, and the Work Order must still be open — editing is not available once a Work Order is closed. See Work Order permissions for details.
Steps
Open the Work Order you want to update.
Find the field you want to change in the Work Order's header or summary area — for example, Reason, Priority, Shop ID, Customer, or Vendor. For what each field means, see Work Order fields.
Select the field's current value.
The field becomes editable in place — there's no separate edit mode or drawer for the header as a whole.
Enter or select the new value.
Confirm the change (select the field's save control, or move focus away from the field, depending on the field type).
The field saves immediately and shows the new value.
Some header fields only appear, or only appear editable, depending on your organization's configuration — see Work Order system switches. To change the Work Order's meter reading, see Update the Work Order meter instead, since it opens its own drawer and requires the Edit Meter permission.
If this step fails
If the field doesn't become editable when you select it, confirm the Work Order is still open — Fleet360 blocks editing on a closed Work Order regardless of permission. Reopen it first (see Close or reopen a Work Order) if you need to make the change.
