Attachment did not save

You uploaded a file to a Work Order or job and it isn't showing in the attachments list.

Diagnostic steps

Work through these in order.

1. Did the upload actually succeed?

Confirmation: Try the upload again and watch for a snackbar message. A successful upload shows "File Uploaded." A failed upload shows "Failed to upload attachment."

Resolution: If you see "Failed to upload attachment," the file was not saved — this message is generic and doesn't tell you whether the file was too large, an unsupported type, a name conflict, or a connection problem, so you can't tell the exact cause from the message alone. Try again with a smaller file and a common format (PDF, JPG, or PNG are known to work elsewhere in the product). If it still fails after a couple of tries, or you consistently see this message for a specific file, submit a support request with the Work Order number, the job/line number if applicable, the file name and approximate size, and a screenshot of the message.

2. Are you looking at the right section?

Confirmation: The Attachments tab is split into a Master section (attachments on the Work Order itself) and a separate section for each job/line. A file attached to one job's section will not appear under Master or under a different job's section.

Resolution: Confirm which section you uploaded to and check that same section for the file. If you meant to attach it at the Work Order level, re-upload it in the Master section; if you meant to attach it to a specific job, re-upload it there.

3. Legacy Attachments tab only — is a search filter active?

Confirmation: In the legacy (non-redesigned) Attachments tab, each attachments panel has its own search box above the file list. If it has text in it, only files whose name matches that text are shown — a newly uploaded file with a non-matching name will look like it never saved.

Resolution: Clear the search box for that section and check again. This search box does not appear in the redesigned Attachments tab, so this step doesn't apply there.

4. Is the job closed, and do you have permission to attach files to it?

Confirmation: On a closed job, the upload control itself doesn't appear at all unless you hold the permission to edit closed job lines — there's no error message in this case, just no way to start an upload.

Resolution: See Work Order permissions for the Edit Closed Jobs permission. If you need to attach a file to a closed job and don't see any upload control, contact your administrator to either grant that permission or add the attachment on your behalf.

5. None of the above matches what you're seeing

Submit a support request with the Work Order number, the job/line number if applicable, the file name and type, which section you uploaded to, and a screenshot of any message (or note that there was no message at all).
