What the ClearPath GPS integration does
Fleets running ClearPath GPS can connect their telematics data to Fleet360. Once the integration is enabled, Fleet360 can:
Update asset meters automatically. Odometer and engine hour readings from ClearPath GPS are written to the linked asset records about every 30 minutes, so PM schedules stay lined up with actual usage. This runs only when Is Telematics Enabled is checked on the integration
Supply asset location. Fleet360 requests the last known position for an asset from ClearPath GPS by VIN, and shows it with the time the device last reported. Refer to Asset Location Tab
Report matching problems. The integration’s Issues screen lists assets whose VIN or serial number does not match ClearPath GPS, and assets whose incoming meter reading falls outside the allowed odometer range
Driver vehicle inspection reports are not part of the ClearPath GPS integration. Defects imported into Inspections > DVIRs come from a DVIR capable integration such as Geotab.
Setting up the integration
Go to Admin > Integrations and click the ClearPath GPS line
Click Add in the top right corner
Fill in your ClearPath GPS account details:
Name - an alias or account name for this connection, used to tell several connections apart
Email - the email address used to sign in to ClearPath GPS
Password - the ClearPath GPS password for that account
Disable - turns the integration off temporarily without deleting it
Is Telematics Enabled - turns automatic meter updating on or off
Save. Fleet360 checks the credentials, and the integration shows as failed if the sign in does not work
Note: If you do not have your ClearPath GPS account credentials you may need to contact your service provider to get them.
Matching assets to ClearPath GPS
Assets are matched by VIN or serial number. The serial number on the Fleet360 asset file has to be the same as the VIN on the ClearPath GPS record, or the asset is not linked and neither meters nor location come through.
Serial Number/VIN exceptions list assets that did not match, with a probability score showing how close a possible match is. Correct the asset file in Fleet360, or the record in ClearPath GPS, so the two agree. Refer to Asset Primary Information Panel for editing the asset serial number
For any asset in ClearPath GPS you do not want linked, leave the Fleet360 VIN alone and it is skipped
Meter exceptions list assets whose incoming reading is further from the current Fleet360 meter than your odometer range settings allow. Correct the meter on the asset with a meter correction, then check the list again
Warning: if meters stop feeding for some assets, check the exceptions on the integration. An asset usually drops out because its Fleet360 meter moved out of the allowed range after a correction, or because the device stopped reporting.
Viewing asset location
Open Assets, select the asset, and use the Location tab. Refer to Asset Location Tab for how the map, Last Device Update and Refresh work, and for what to check when a location does not appear.
The Location tab is currently added to the asset file for Geotab and GPS Insight integrations. If ClearPath GPS is your only telematics integration and the Location tab does not appear on the asset file, contact RTA Support.
