Request parts for a job
Before you begin
The job you're requesting a part for must be Open or Partial — a request can only be created against a job in one of those two statuses (see How parts requests become postings). No specific Work Order permission was found gating the Request Parts action itself — that's distinct from Post: Parts, which governs posting a part to the job later (see Work Order permissions).
Steps
On the job you want to request a part for, select Request Parts.
The Request Parts panel opens with that job already selected as the default.
Select Add Request to add a blank request row.
In the Part field, search for and select the part.
If the part is on file, its Description and Price fill in automatically and can't be edited.
If the part isn't on file, type its part number or a description directly instead of selecting a match. Description and Price become required, editable fields.
Enter the Quantity you need. This field is required and must be a number greater than zero.
Confirm the Requester field — it defaults to your name but can be changed to whoever the part is actually for. This field is required.
If the part tracks bin locations, select enough Locations to match the quantity you entered.
Optional: select the notes icon on the row to add a comment.
Repeat steps 2–7 for any additional parts you need on this job.
Select Submit Request.
A "Part Requested" confirmation appears, and the panel closes. The request now leaves the Work Order and enters the shared parts-fulfillment queue — see How parts requests become postings.
If this step fails
If the request doesn't show up for whoever fulfills part requests, see Part request is not showing in the queue.
