How FleetHQ finds and researches insights
FleetHQ separates detecting that something changed from researching why it changed.
Detection examines the fleet's recorded metrics and publishes a customer-readable finding when the available evidence supports one. It can identify performance changes, data-reliability problems, positive movement, and metrics that have not started reporting. Detection does not require paid research.
Detector-only findings
A detector-only finding reports what the metric data establishes without claiming a root cause it has not researched. It includes a plain-language summary and a practical next check based on the evidence already present.
The analysis identifies this state as Not researched. If an earlier research attempt produced only a partial result, the analysis can instead show Deeper dive needed, the useful information found so far, and Will retry automatically.
This is a deliberate evidence boundary: a detected movement is a fact about the numbers; an explanation for that movement requires a deeper investigation.
Researched findings
Research adds the parts of the analysis that require investigation:
a proposed root cause;
supporting evidence;
alternatives FleetHQ tested and ruled out;
a confidence level; and
a recommended plan.
If automatic research is enabled, FleetHQ can perform that work as part of its regular processing. When automatic research is off, an authorized user can choose Research this one for a specific detector-only finding.
Manual research and credits
Manual research is a paid, per-finding request. Before it starts, FleetHQ shows the tenant's remaining AI credit balance. A successful request changes the card to Researching and continues in the background; the user can leave the page. The card updates automatically when the work finishes.
FleetHQ refuses the request before starting when it cannot safely proceed, for example, when the credit balance is insufficient, the finding is already being researched, or the finding is no longer eligible. A failed or incomplete investigation is disclosed on the card rather than being presented as a finished root cause.
