Fleet360 Password Requirements

Fleet360 password rules

These rules apply when a password is set in User Management — creating a user, an admin resetting a password, or a user changing their own password. (On the self-service “Forgot password” reset form and account activation, only the length and character rules apply.)

  • 6–25 characters long.

  • At least 3 of these 4 character types: uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, special character ($ & + , : ; = ? @ # | ’ < > . ^ * ( ) % ! -).

  • Cannot contain the user’s User ID (case-insensitive).

  • Cannot contain any 3 consecutive characters of the user’s full name (first + last, case-insensitive). Fleet360 slides a 3-character window across the name — including the space between first and last — so a password is rejected if it matches any 3-character run. For Joe Dirt, passwords containing “joe”, “oe ”, “e d”, “dir”, or “irt” are all rejected — that’s why a password that looks unrelated to the name can still fail.

“Invalid password” when creating or resetting a user

Usually it’s the name rule. Fleet360 compares the password to the user’s full name: if the password contains the same 3 letters in a row that appear anywhere in the name, it’s rejected — even when it doesn’t look related. For example, Joe Dirt can’t use “DirtRoad1!” (“dir” is in his last name) and can’t use “Joestar1!” (“joe” is in his first name). Pick a password with no 3-letter overlap with the name, then confirm it’s 6–25 characters with 3 of the 4 character types.
