Complete your first Work Order
Before you begin
You need the Add Work Orders, Add Jobs, Post: Labor, and Close Jobs/Close Work Orders permissions — check with your Fleet360 administrator if you're not sure which ones are on your role. Fleet360 doesn't provide a separate training or demo environment, so work through this scenario on a real vehicle from your fleet — pick one that isn't currently in for repair, since you'll be creating and closing an actual Work Order against it.
What you will accomplish
You'll create a Work Order, add a job, assign yourself as the technician, post an hour of labor, and close both the job and the Work Order.
Steps
From the Work Orders list, select Add.
Select the Vehicle for this Work Order, then select Create. Fleet360 creates the Work Order and takes you to its detail screen.
In the workspace actions area, select Add Job.
Select a Job VMRS code and a Repair Type for the job — both are required.
In the Assigned technician(s) field, add yourself as the technician.
Select Add Job. You'll notice the job now appears in the Jobs list, assigned to you.
In the job's action row, select Add Posting, then select the Labor tab. Because you're already assigned to this job, the Employee field fills in with your name.
Confirm the Date, Labor Rate, and Billed Hours — Fleet360 has already filled these in for you — then enter Hours Worked, for example
1.Select Post. The labor is posted, and the job's totals update to include it.
Select Close Job, then select Close in the confirmation dialog. The job's status changes to Closed.
Select Close Work Order in the actions rail.
Confirm the Close Date, then select Close. The Work Order's status changes to Closed.
What you just did
You just moved a Work Order through its whole lifecycle in one pass: opening it against a vehicle, giving it a job to track the repair, assigning who's doing the work, recording the labor that job cost, and then closing both the job and the Work Order once the work was done. That closing step matters because a Work Order can't reach Closed until every job on it does — closing the job first is what let the Work Order close right after.
