Edit an existing report

Editing reopens the report in the builder conversation, where you describe the changes you want in the same way you described the report in the first place.

Before you begin

  • You must be the report's creator. Reports shared with you cannot be edited, copy them and edit your copy instead.

  • You need the AI Reports Edit permission. This is separate from the permission to create reports, so it is possible to be able to build new reports but not change existing ones.

  • RTA standard reports in the RTA Reports folder cannot be edited by anyone. Copy one to get an editable version.

Edit a report

  1. Go to Ron 360 Reports and select the report.

  2. Open the report's actions and select Edit.

  3. The builder opens with the conversation in edit mode. It confirms which report you are changing: "You're editing 'Report name'. Describe the changes you want to make."

  4. Describe the change, for example, "add a column for total labor hours", "group by department instead of facility", or "make this landscape".

  5. Answer any follow-up questions, then select Done Building when the preview is right.

Any filter values you had set when you opened Edit carry into the edit session, so the preview reflects the data you were already looking at.

What you can change by asking

The conversation is the only editing surface, there is no field-by-field form. Ask for changes to the columns, the grouping and sort order, the filters and parameters, the date range, totals and subtotals, the page orientation, and the visual layout.

If it doesn't work

Edit is not offered. Either you are not the report's creator, or you lack the AI Reports Edit permission. Both are required. If the report was shared with you, copy it, you own the copy and can edit that freely.

"Only the report creator can edit this report." You are looking at a report someone shared with you. Copy it instead.

Edit is missing on an RTA standard report. Reports in the RTA Reports folder are read-only for every user. You can run, export, and copy them. See Use an RTA standard report.

"Failed to edit report." The edit session could not be started. Reopen the report and try again; if it persists, note the report name and contact support.
