Choosing the right job view
The Jobs tab offers three view modes — Read, Scan, and Glance — that show the same jobs with different levels of detail. Switching between them does not change the jobs themselves; it changes how much information is visible at once.
Read — full detail
Read mode shows the complete job card: all fields, notes, 3C content (complaint, cause, correction), technician assignment, the full cost breakdown, and the posted-transactions table — expanded by default. Nothing is hidden or collapsed by default.
Use Read when:
You are reviewing a specific job and need to see all of its content, including prior postings, without an extra click
You are posting transactions and need to confirm details before or after
You are writing or reviewing job notes and 3C entries
You need to check every field without opening a separate drawer
Read mode is the most information-dense view by default. On a Work Order with many jobs that already have posting history, it requires more scrolling than Scan.
Scan — same detail, postings collapsed by default
Scan mode shows the exact same job card as Read — the same fields, the same notes and 3C content, the same cost breakdown, the same actions. The only difference is that the posted-transactions table starts collapsed instead of expanded; one click ("See more") expands it inline, identical to what Read shows.
Use Scan when:
You want full job detail available, but don't want every job's prior posting history taking up screen space by default
You are moving through a Work Order with many jobs that already carry posting history, and want a shorter initial view without losing access to any content
You expect to expand postings selectively — only for the specific jobs where you need to check transaction history — rather than for every job at once
Scan is a good default for anyone who wants Read's full detail on demand but a more compact starting view when jobs already have a lot of posting history. It is not a reduced-detail mode — everything Read shows is still there, just one click away for postings.
Glance — minimal rows
Glance mode is the one view that genuinely condenses what's shown. Each job renders as a single row: job/line number, VMRS code and job description, repair type, a transaction-count chip (expandable inline to the transaction table), status, assigned technician, labor-estimate hours, and cost total. The same actions available in Read/Scan (edit, close, reschedule, reopen, delete, add posting, request parts, add inspection) are available from row-level menus, but notes, 3C content, and the individual cost-category breakdown are not shown at all — only the drawer view (via Edit Job) surfaces those.
Use Glance when:
You are managing a Work Order with many jobs and want the maximum number of jobs visible without scrolling
You need to quickly check hours and cost totals across all jobs
You are assigning technicians or reviewing job cost roll-ups and do not need note or field detail
Glance compresses the most jobs into the least vertical space. It prioritizes cost and assignment visibility over content detail — it is the only mode where notes and the cost-category breakdown are unavailable without opening the drawer.
Switching view modes
Your view mode selection is a personal preference that's saved to your profile — it carries across sessions and applies to every Work Order you open, and does not affect what other users see. Entering Bulk mode temporarily switches the view to Scan without changing your saved preference. For where the control lives and exactly what persists, see Job view modes.
