RTA System Requirements
Prerequisites for SQL On-Premise Customers
The following describes only the bare minimum to support running one instance of the RTA program. We highly recommend going above and beyond these criteria with the latest standard available on the market to ensure RTA runs smoothly. We also require you to consult Microsoft's specs for the various products you will be using (i.e. SQL Server / Windows Server). SQL Server 2016, 2017 or 2019 are recommended. Windows Server 2016 or newer is recommended. RTA supports virtualization as well, but we recommend you consult briefly with RTA if you plan on running in a virtual environment.
The following list describes the minimum hardware requirements for the client portion of the RTA Fleet Management software (multi-user applications, MS/SQL Backend):
Windows 10
Intel or AMD Processor (>1.3 GHz)
At least 1 GB of RAM
At least 30 GB of available space on the hard disk
Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device
Video adapter and monitor with recommended 1920 x 1080 or higher resolution
1 Gbps connection
The following list describes the minimum hardware requirements for the Microsoft SQL Server installation of the RTA Fleet Management software (multi-user applications, MS/SQL backend):
Windows Server 2016 or Newer
2.0 GHz or faster 64 bit processor
At least 8.0 GB RAM (16GB or more is recommended)
At least 6 GB of available space on the hard disk Different configurations of the server software will have different hard drive requirements
Installation directory for RTA must be shared with Execute, Read, Write, and Modify access by network users
Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device
Video adapter and monitor with 800 x 600 or higher resolution
1 Gbps connection recommended
SQL Server 2017 or newer (Express version supported, but not recommended for medium or large fleets) (MSDE not supported) (Microsoft Azure SQL not supported)
Prerequisites for SaaS Customers
All client computers must be fully patched with the latest Windows Updates which include an updated Remote Desktop client. Some RTA customers have had problems with the RTA Desktop application using older versions of the Remote Desktop client.
Windows computers must be Windows 10.
Computer must have NTLMv2 authentication enabled, which is the default setting for Windows 10 computers. Link to Microsoft doc for NTLMv2. The minimum supported value is "3". You only need to worry about this if you are unable to connect to the application. The majority of computers will be able to connect without making any changes to this setting.
Firewalls and endpoint protection suite software must allow computer to connect to our server RDGATEWAY01.RTAFLEET.US (multiple IP addresses) via TCP port 443.
If your firewall restricts traffic on TCP port 443, and is incapable of using DNS hostnames in its rules, you can view a list of IP addresses used by RTA SaaS here: https://app.rtafleet.us/ipranges.html
